Cover story on  Single Window Interface for Trade (SWIFT) - Customs Single Window Interface in India

As part of the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ initiatives, the Central Board of Excise & Customs, Government of India, introduced the Single Window Project to facilitate trade across borders in India. This online portal allows importers and exporters to submit their clearance at a single point. Digitally signed copies of the supporting documents can be uploaded on the portal,  eliminating the requirement to submit hardcopies of supporting documents at multiple levels of clearance. Thus, the SWIFT portal, reduces interface with Governmental agencies, dwell time and the overall cost of doing business.
