The FMCG sector is the 4th largest sector of the Indian economy. Over the last decade, the revenue in the FMCG sector in India has been growing rapidly at over 20%, attributed to growing awareness, easier access and changing lifestyles. The sector in India is primarily divided into the demographics of rural and urban India. The urban segment is the largest contributor to the overall revenue generated by the sector, however, over the last few years, the FMCG market has grown at a faster pace in rural India compared with urban India.
