Only 33% Corporate India Can Defuse ESG attack: Outlook ESGBharat Survey 2023

As India prepares to deliver on its economic prospects and fortify its footprint in the global landscape, the country is rapidly embracing global norms around environmental, social and governance (ESG) parameters. This changing outlook of businesses towards ESG is complemented by the Government’s push for businesses to self-report on ESG frameworks.
To assess the Indian business leaders’ pulse around ESG adoption, BDO India and The Outlook Group jointly carried out the Outlook ESGBharat Survey 2023. To capture the views and experiences of various stakeholders driving the ESG agenda in organisations, the study was structured into two separate surveys that focused on: a. capturing the perceptions of Business Leaders on ESG, and b. views, imperatives and actions around ESG from ESG experts/ Sustainability specific professionals and leaders.
It is the first industry survey to evaluate full ESG preparedness in the country, gathering perspectives that may prove useful in understanding the overall directional attributes of the ESG framework in India.
